Insurance and Car Repaires.

  • Your car insurance company may choose to repair your car with Recycled parts, where appropriate.
  • Parts used may not have been made by the Car's manufacturer but will be of a similar standard.
  • If any lost or damaged parts are no longer available, your insurance company could offer to pay you an amount equal to the cost shown in the manufacturer's latest price guide
  • Non standard alloy wheels and body kits are not generally covered by a standard policy.
  • Car insurers assess the value of a motor vehicle by reference to trade guides which do not take into account any customization you may have done on your car so naturally the value likely to be placed on a total loss by your insurer will not reflect any additional expenditure incurred on modification.
  • Your insurer will not pay out any compensation if your car is being driven with your permission by any person who you know has not got a driving licence or who you know to be disqualified from driving or getting a licence.
  • You are not covered for any legal action taken against you outside the UK, unless it is a result of using your car in a country to which the Insurer has agreed to extend this insurance cover.
  • (I like this one!) You are most likely not covered for the following: Loss or damage to Your Car's management system or other computer or electronically controlled equipment caused by failure to recognise any date as the true calendar date.
  • You are most likely not covered for the following: Loss of or damage to your car by theft or attempted theft while no-one is in your car unless all doors, windows and other openings are closed and locked, the vehicle's keys and any other door or ignition locking devices such as electronic key fobs or cards are removed, and vehicle's electronic or mechanical security devices are activated. So if it has an alarm or immobiliser and you do not activate it every time you walk away from your car, you might as well hand the thieves your money, as you won't be paid out.
